Ghost Vibrations from my Blackberry
Published April 23rd, 2008 in Monkey Rant.I remember hearing somewhere that when someone loses a limb he still “feels” like it’s there for a while. I’ve been getting these weird ghost vibrations right around where my Blackberry normally sits — front-right pants pocket.
What the heck is that all about? I don’t remember seeing that on any warning label. At first I passed it off as a one-time oddity. But, just now (well, almost now but just before just now), I was talking to a friend and felt the familiar bzzzt on my leg. I reached toward my pocket to get my phone then noticed it sitting in front of me on my desk. Am I crazy? Anyone else getting ghost vibrations from overuse of your Blackberry?
I’ve had about a half dozen of them in the past two weeks. Weird.

Yes, This actually happens to me quite often when I’m driving, I think it stems from some sort of paranoia that we’re gonna miss a call…but who knows
Yes. This happens to me all the time. I’ve somewhat learned to ignore it, but like the first commenter, it happens to me most often while I’m driving. For the most part, I’ve been able to stifle the urge to reach for my phone, but sometimes I still do out of habit. It also happens to me while I’m on my phone, and then I feel like an idiot reaching in my pocket for my phone while I’m talking on it. :/
I feel those “phantom” vibrations, too. I think it’s just part because of the cellphone (Blackberry). When you sit for a longer time your blood circulation drops in the legs. The vibrations have been there before, but the interpretation was different (before vibration alarms were invented).
