Chris Wood – Our First Honorary Board Member
0 Comments Published February 1st, 2003 in Advisory Board, Project News. It’s taken some time but the SIMI Project is finally reaching out to real primatologists and other people “in the know” to help us improve our work and research. In the coming months we’ll be featuring members of our newly developed honorary advisory board comprised of people that know a lot about primates. You’ll even be able to ask them questions.
The first honorary board member we’d like to feature is Chris Wood. Mr. Wood is an Associate Professor of Primatology at Zhejiang University in China.
Mr. Wood has spent time working in numerous reserves and projects on the worlds 4th largest Island – the tropical Indian ocean Island of Madagascar. Having worked on many conservation projects throughout Madagascar in addition to conducting his own expedition where he collected and released lemurs back to the wild, Mr. Wood is now slated to become the director of a conservation breeding base for golden monkeys and langurs in China.
He has created several education kits for primary and secondary school education and has recently lectured at Oxford Brookes University. In addition he has been one of two main speakers at the Friends of Madagascar group in London.
If you have any questions for Mr. Wood, pleaes direct them to chriswood@100monkeys.org. We will be screening and forwarding these on to him and we will post answered questions to our Monkey Board.
If you have professional monkey/primate/simian experience and would like to be a member of our honorary advisory board, please email us at advisors@100monkeys.org. The position offers, well, er, uh, um, you get a nice page about yourself and get to answer all our questions about primates! Heck, we may even throw in a free t-shirt.
