Welcome - SIMI History 101

So, you ask with a bit of skepticism, “what is the SIMI Project?” Quite simply, the SIMI Project is the single most important research being conducted today that doesn’t involve health, physics, geology, astronomy, chemistry, sociology or a few other -ics, -omys, -ogys -and istrys that we know of.

Founded to prove, once and for all, that Thomas Huxley’s assertion in the Great Debate regarding monkeys typing was not a bunch of hooey, Dr. Adam Safran founded the SIMI Project with a meager budget. Due to a lack of real money, the original infinite number of years, paper and ink was reduced to 100 to save some cash.
For several years Dr. Safran toiled in obscurity training his monkeys to type, cleaning up after them and learning to cook with monkey chow. Then, with the immergence of the Web, Dr. Safran seized his moment. After spending several weeks as an intern at the SETI@home project taking diligent notes from the captured aliens on staff, Dr. Safran returned to his headquarters and wrote the first distributed monkey typing program IN THE WORLD!
What you see here is the results of that work. Don’t be afraid of greatness. Don’t shy away from the “impossible”. NEVER quit! Together, with the help of hundreds, if not dozens, of other monkey trainers, YOU will help prove to the world that monkeys (a few chimps and some gorillas) CAN TYPE SHAKESPEARE!
Actually, we’ve already proven it several hundred times. However, we welcome you to adopt a monkey and try for yourself. Good luck and Type On!
